The Passion Plays
From Mistero Buffo (The Comic Mysteries) by Dario Fo.
The Passion Plays explores several of the most sacred evangelical themes through a lens that is refreshingly novel. We see the miracles, tribulations and agonies uncensored. Moments of cruelty become agonisingly real as the nails pierce Christ's body, moments of irony hit home when the Jester flirts with the Grim Reaper, and moments of inspired revelation remind us of God’s divine purpose when Mary sees her son’s death in an image on a handkerchief. This play will enthral, entertain and, most of all, leave you with a deep sense of reverence.

Time: Friday 7pm, Saturday 2pm & 7pm
Venue: Wesley Institute theatre

Alls Well That Ends Well
By William Shakespeare
Helena’s brainy about everything but love, as she sets her heart on winning the very unwilling Bertram for her husband. She gains the fickle fellow as a prize for curing the Kings fistula, but Bertram prefers battle to wife bedding and runs away to war. Not to be outdone, Helena hies off after him, and with the assistance of his dispassionate lover, concocts a clever scheme by which she can woo her man. Alls Well That Ends Well is a fascinating tale of contradictions and double standards that turns society’s expectation of men and women squarely on its head!

Medea
By Jean Anouilh
This reworking of Euripides’ classic drama is a provocative investigation of the dynamic between divine and human will. Inflamed by jealously after the sexual betrayal of her husband, Medea commits the ultimate act of revenge in a killing spree. Anouilh’s modern take on the Greek tragedy challenges the motives behind extreme acts of violence, and dares to posit answers to the open-ended questions left by Euripides. Intense and haunting, Medea is a must see event for 2008!

Statements of Faith in a Political Forum
“The political criminal of today must needs be the hero, the martyr and the saint of the new age" Emma Goldman
Based on several classic speeches by politicians and world leaders from Socrates to Aung San Suu Kyi, this new theatrical work explores our concept of ethical leadership in a postmodern society. Devised by 2nd year drama students, Statements of Faith is a poignant work that dares to peel back the layers of meaning to reveal a desperate, sometimes cynical, and at other times hopeful look at our past, present and future.
